This morning was a rare leisurely morning for both Andrew and myself. Sure, we both have homework projects due and final exams looming, and I have a jury in less than a week, but the mere fact that we were both at home this morning was a pleasant anomaly to our usual busy schedules.
So when he wandered into my room to find me still in bed at 9 am, he requested demanded that I get up and eat breakfast with him.
I did him one better; instead of the two of us just grabbing cereal or toast, I decided to make waffles.
My Grandpa's waffle recipe, to be more specific.
And while Andrew had his with butter and syrup, I had to have mine just the way Grandpa used to make them for me: with strawberries and whipped cream.
Homemade whipped cream of course; Palmers don't condone that stuff in a can. And with a KitchenAid mixer, it's easy to whip up your own in less than a minute, anyway!
Maybe it's not what you'd call a healthy balanced breakfast, but it's sure a breakfast filled with good memories.
{And of course, it's delicious, too.}
